| Hi Skaters, Finally the rains have gone away. Finally
skaters were able to experience what a fantastic race venue Canada Road in San Mateo Ca.
can really be. The second installment of the Dan Burger Race Series was a PR bonanza.
About 2 days before the race, I was informed about a group of 1,200 cyclists that were
doing a century ride and needed to roll through our race venue. They did not have
permits to use Canada Road and we could have stopped them from using the road. As I
searched for a solution, it dawn on me that this could be a rare opportunity to showcase
the abilities of skaters to an audience we really needed to impress.
Canada Road has very wide shoulders where cyclists can ride 3 abreast without
interfering with skaters. I made out to be very distressed out the situation made an
agreement with the Century event promoters that let them go through, but have them observe
the skaters so that we can add a skate element in future events they present.
The cyclists were very impressed. I am making a video that will be posted this
weekend where you will see how our skaters pulled off a public relations coup. It is
simply marvelous to watch.
Here's a big shout-out to Portland and the PDX team!!! They are taking the
virtual racing concept and making it a reality. Congrats to Jean-François
Fullum of Portland OR. This is our first virtual racer. Two others have registered
as virtual racers, but I don't have results for them yet.
Here are the race results. There are some great photos taken by the cycling
photographer at http://crazyphoto.com/2003/0601SQC/Sqc5/SQC50007.html
See you all in Calistoga next weekend!!!!
