In the spring of 1993, about 40 skaters participated in the first ever skate race in the Napa Valley. We started in Napa and ended in Calistoga. We called it the Roll Through The Wine Country, the Napa to Calistoga Roadskate.  On Sunday, July 13, 2014, we will celebrate 21 years of presenting this event. You will not experience a more fun, exciting skating weekend as the one we are planning for you in one of America's most beautiful areas, the world Famous Napa Wine Valley.

DMJ Sports Marketing along with the California Outdoor Rollersports Association would like to invite you all to come celebrate 21 years of rolling through the wine country as we present the 2014 Napa Valley Inline Marathon and Half Marathon.

Skaters will roll past the vineyards and wineries along a 7 mile closed section of the Silverado Trail in the world famous Napa Wine Valley. The course is totally closed to traffic for the race.

The course has everything that makes a fantastic roadskate from the long stretches of flatland to rolling hills.  The course has been changed to remove some of the more dangerous downhill sections. The road is very smooth "black ice" asphalt all the way and will be totally closed to cars during the event.

We will have two distances for participants of  26.2 mile marathon and a 13.1 mile half marathon distance for recreational and fitness skaters .

               START TIME

The race will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Registration will open at 5:00 A.M. near the start line located on the Silverado Trail at Yountville Cross Road. Skaters meeting will be at 6:40 A.M. The roadskate will start at 7:00 A.M. SHARP!!!

RACE COURSE

The start/finish line will be located on the Silverado Trail at Yountville Cross Road. The skaters will head northbound 2..2 miles to a 180 degree turn around near the intersection of Silverado Trail and Oakville Cross Road. Skaters will turn and travel southbound on the Silverado Trail 6.55 miles to another 180 degree turn located on the Silverado Trail at Oak Knoll Ave. The skaters will turn and skate 4.35 miles back to the start line    The full 26.2 mile marathon is 2 laps.  The Half Marathon is 1 lap.

WILL THE ROAD BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC?

Yes.  A 7 mile section of the Silverado Trail will be closed to all traffic for three hours from 7AM to 10 AM.  The  Highway Patrol will block off every intersection during the race keeping ALL cars off the road and keep you safe

IS THIS A "RACE" ?

Yes, if you’re racing and no if you’re going at your own pace.. The event will be timed. The elite racers will be able to race unimpeded along the course. We are not a huge corporate event like others large inline events. .The event is designed more for the recreational or fitness skater.

CAN ANYONE SKATE ?

The Napa Valley Inline Marathon and Half Marathon is designed to give all levels of skaters a fantastic skating experience. It's great racing for the hard core racers.  It's a high mark of accomplishment for the fitness skater or enthusiast.  It's an absolute blast for the recreational skater. There is a little something for all. You can wear 4 wheel blades, 5 wheel blades or even "quad" conventional roller skates.

WHAT DO I GET?
Every participant will receive an event T shirt. Prizes will be awarded to top 5 men and women in the elite class and to the top three men and women in each age category in the citizen class skaters

26 miles on the Silverado Trail is a lot to bite off for a first time inline skater. If this is your first time in a roadskate event, we invite you to come participate in the Half Marathon at the C.O.R.A. member rate.  E-mail D@cora.org if you have never participated in an inline race before.

Outdoor skating is a fantastic way to get a great workout while having a great time. The closed roads create "recreational asphalt" where youth and adults alike can have an opportunity to experience what a great sport and fun, healthy activity inline skating and roller skating can be.  There will be skates available along with helmets and pads for those Napa Valley residents ready to give inline skating a try the morning of the race along the flat, safe portion of the roadway.

Napa Valley Inline Marathon will be held rain or shine.
Entry fees are non-refundable.

LODGING IN NAPA

Finding a place to stay in the Napa Valley is always a difficult situation as the Napa Wine Country is a very popular place where people plan many months in advance to visit. We are working on a discounted rate from a host hotel, but it is yet to be secured.  We will post it to you as soon as we get the information.

Most skaters usually stay at the Napa Valley Redwood Inn in Napa.  They had served as our host hotel in the past when the race started in Napa. Since then the inn has changed hands several times and is now the Motel 6 of Napa. It is located in the heart of Napa Valley in historic Napa. Their central location allows you the opportunity to visit the valley's many attractions without spending all day traveling to get there. You'll get a clean room, color satellite TV, free local phone calls, Free WiFi in every room, a swimming pool, and complimentary continental breakfast.  The address is 3380 Solano Ave. Phone number is 707-257-6111
